Xspouse is made by Tolapa, Inc. and has been certified by the California Judicial Council since 2001. It became the standard California support calculator after Thomson Reuters discontinued DissoMaster on March 31, 2025. The two share history: the founder of Xspouse programmed the earliest versions of DissoMaster.
Xspouse calculates guideline child support under Family Code section 4055 and temporary spousal support under county formulas. It also includes an arrears calculator, a property divider with Marsden and pension worksheets, bonus income reports, and a QBID calculator.
It runs as a Windows desktop program. There is no Mac version and no cloud version. Mac users run it through Parallels or VMware. Files live on the machine where they were created. xspouse.com
What SecureSplit is
SecureSplit is a cloud platform for the financial work of a divorce case. Client intake, a secure document portal, asset division, pension valuation, support calculations, settlement modeling, and a report the client can actually read, in one place, usable in all 50 states.
SecureSplit is not on the Judicial Council’s certified calculator list. See the note at the bottom of this page on Rule 5.275 and how SecureSplit handles tax figures.
SecureSplit vs. Xspouse comparison
All 51 U.S. jurisdictions are on the SecureSplit® roadmap. Every state has its own filing rules, calculation formulas, and form templates, so we build them one at a time. Generic court-ready and accepted forms keep the remaining jurisdictions covered until their state-specific exports arrive.
Xspouse information comes from public sources, including xspouse.com, the Judicial Council of California, and California bar associations, as of September 2026.
Where SecureSplit fits for California practitioners
Xspouse answers one question, and answers it with the Judicial Council’s stamp on it: what is the guideline number. Everything before and after that question still has to happen somewhere. SecureSplit is where.
Attorneys
Keep the financial side of every case in one place, and hand clients a report they can follow.
Paralegals
Collect intake and documents once, without chasing email attachments.
CDFAs
Model settlement options before mediation or negotiation, and show clients how each option plays out.
And if your practice crosses state lines, Xspouse stops at the California border. SecureSplit does not.
Frequently asked questions
Is Xspouse certified in California?+
Yes. Xspouse is on the California Judicial Council’s list of certified guideline support calculators and is certified through March 31, 2027. Five calculators are currently certified: Cal Support and CalSupport Pro, the California Child Support Guideline Calculator from DCSS, Family Law Software, FamilySoft SupportCalc, and Xspouse. Cases handled by a local child support agency must use the DCSS calculator.
Does Xspouse work on a Mac?+
Not directly. Xspouse is a Windows desktop program with no native Mac version. Mac users run it through virtualization software such as Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion, or on a separate Windows machine. SecureSplit runs in a web browser, so it works on Mac and Windows with nothing to install.
How much does Xspouse cost?+
Xspouse is sold as a one-time purchase for each annual version rather than a subscription. Published pricing runs from $399 for up to 5 named users to $1,449 for unlimited users. The license does not auto-renew, and each year’s version must be purchased again. SecureSplit bills monthly, starting at $119 per month. Pricing is current as of September 2026.
Can SecureSplit replace Xspouse?+
For most California practitioners, no, and we would not pitch it that way. Xspouse produces the certified California guideline figure, and SecureSplit is not on the certified list. Most California professionals who use SecureSplit use it for the work around that figure: intake, documents, asset division, pension valuation, settlement modeling, and client reporting. If your practice crosses state lines, SecureSplit covers all 50 states while Xspouse covers California only.
What is the difference between Xspouse and DissoMaster?+
DissoMaster was discontinued by Thomson Reuters on March 31, 2025, and its Judicial Council certification lapsed the same day. Xspouse has been certified since 2001 and is the calculator most California practices moved to. The two share history, since the founder of Xspouse programmed the earliest versions of DissoMaster. The same financial facts can produce slightly different results in each program.

Regarding California Rule of Court 5.275
SecureSplit® does not automatically compute state or federal income tax liability. Tax figures are entered directly by the licensed professional using verified data from their own source. As confirmed in writing by the Judicial Council of California, this means SecureSplit® is not subject to the CPA Statement requirement under Rule 5.275, and certification under that rule is not required.
Your SecureSplit® outputs are court-ready in California. The professional controls every tax input and assumption that goes into the calculation.
